Stamped Dictionary - Chris

Hi everyone, Chris here with my project for this week which is an entry in my stamped dictionary. I took one of the stocking die cuts from the Design a knit cutting file set and stamped with the Ribbed Background Stamp. I created a custom ink pad to do my stamping with distress re-inkers in Spiced Marmalade, Scattered Straw and Worn Lipstick added to some Ranger stamp pad felt.

I highlighted my word with a black fineliner pen, drew in a washing line and a peg then glued down the die cut. I've added some shading with a charcoal pencil to finish off.

Thanks for stopping by today!

MayLeeDee ~ arty colouring

Morning, a wonderful day to Wish my little sis a Brilliant

and here is the card I made for her,
I have wanted to colour an image with white hair for some time now...
I used a pale grey and blue to simply add shadows.
I used the MayLeeDee digi stamp, printed the faint outline which is part of the download, to fit on A5 size card, I wanted the image bigger to crop.
I love that the eyes remain black making colouring her face so much easier.
I coloured her dress to have different colours blend, then decorated with white pen to give a shimmer glitter effect.
The background I wanted to give an arty painterly effect, using my copics I dashed the background with two colours of blue and with an old brush I dabbed on some colourless blender, I did try dropping some on but the drops we're too big for what I wanted.
Here's the copic colours I used...

I hope you feel inspired to try colouring an image in an arty way... Would love to see them.

Thanks for stopping by, Have wonderfully creative day..

Just a note: I will be away for the next week, but my friend Steve will be manning the shop, so you can still order Paperbabe Stamps, but I won't be around to answer emails till 3rd Aug. I hope this doesn't cause any inconvenience, Thank you for your support.

Mid week make...

I hope you're having a great week so far, wasn't Chris's tree hugs card so gorgeous yesterday? the dramatic colours really made the tree pop!

Here's a pretty quick card to put together...

I used the DesignA Knit to create the background panel
The colours are from the summer card camp this week and they are not my usual palette... but I persevered and was pleased with the result.

I scored the banner at the opposite angle then I had wanted but guessing it still reads the same! These wooden buttons I've had in my stash for years.

Thanks for stopping by today, I'll have another card to post here Friday so pop back then.

Have a wonderfully creative Day

Apple Tree Hugs - Chris

Hi everyone, Chris here with a card using the Tree Hugs stamp set today. I can't praise Kim enough for her stamp designs for this and her Knittables set, the possibilities do seem to be endless! By changing the colours, the tree trunk design, the tree top designs a totally different style is achieved and that's before we start on all the gorgeous little stamps in the set such as the apples, leaves and grass that I've used in this card to make it different to the others I've created with this set!

I stamped the solid tree trunk this time with red ink and stamped the tree top stamps also using the solid versions first then the outline stamps of the the tree top in red. Using the darker of the aqua colours I stamped the leaves and then the apples adding in a bit of lime green to give them some shape. After adding the grasses, the solid and the outline and the hugging arms I did a bit of sponging around the tree with the same inks I'd used throughout. I also added a bit of shadowing around the tree, stamped the sentiment, and then made up the card with mats inked in the same colours again.

Hope you're having some creative time today.

Be happy in a field of clover...

I hope you're having a great week wow Friday already, I had wanted to post this earlier but this week had other plans!!!
Now... wow and wow wasn't Chris's MayLeeDee card super gorgeous Tuesday? Her use of colour completely changed the look, I was blown over!

Here is a really quick card, only uses one sentiment stamp from Tree Hugs stamp set,
I just had fun using it with some die cuts!

This next card, totally warms my heart, who can recognise where this was inspired from ROTFL? Yes a little bit of Horton Hears a Who! Love that film.

I used the pompoms from DesignA Knit to create the field of clover panel, I used post it note to create masks for stamping the different pompoms to get the layered look.
The yarn in the DesignA Knit set was perfect for all those clover stems. I stamped the clovers in quite bright colours, but diffused it with a layer of vellum.
The sentiment isn't one of mine but it was too perfect not to use! I heat embossed it on the vellum, then, I stamped a small pompom and stem (don't forget how easy it is to curve acrylic stamps) and fussy cut for the embellishment.
I hope you enjoyed the cards this week, may it inspire you to use your stamps in a different way.

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a wonderfully creative weekend
I hope to bring you much more next week...

MayLeeDee Scene Card - Chris

Hi everyone! Chris here today with a card and using the gorgeous MayLeeDee digi coloured with distress ink and watercolour markers. I've created a my scenic background with the markers and pen and ink. A very quick card after the colouring was done, the busy scene didn't seem to need more than the coloured card layers and the little fabric butterflies.

Hope you have the chance to create something today!

Video Tutorial

Good Morning...

I made a collection of mini 4" cards using the Tree Hugs stamp set... I even managed a video which is quite a big thing for me... and although I spent over a day working the audio into it, it still hasn't worked arrggghhhh! Oh well a little more practice... anyhow I thought you might still like to see the video all the same!

I created a custom ink pad for the tree top, the instructions are on the packaging of the CutnDry stamp pad foam, I used distress ink reinkers for my combination.

I added a little birdy and couple of hearts with a touch of glitter.

I also coordinated the envelopes by adding stamped images to the corners!

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a lovely weekend

Hello Mid Week!

I hope you're having a great week so far, wasn't Chris's tag gorgeous yesterday?

Here I used the DesignA Knit to create the background panel, I used masking tape down the centre to get the join, the pompoms on yarn using die cuts file and sentiment from the same set.

This next card I created a sunset panel using distress stains, stamped the tree onto die cut, then stamped lots of leaves over the tree top. The heart has a little glitter too.

Thanks so much for stopping by today...

PS: don't forget... today is also the last day to participate in the blog hop to win some prizes, I hope you've been around to see all the wonderful creations. Winners announced on Friday.

So huggable tag - Chris

Hi everyone, Chris here today with my 'so huggable' tag and one of my favourite colour combinations of kraft, black, white/cream. My stamping is with the Tree Hugs stamp set and I've layered up the tree for dimension with the Tree Hugs Digital Cut files that co-ordinate with the stamp set. I just love all the variations there are with the stamps and how effortless and quick it is to put together a gift tag like this as everything I need is in the set with the bonus of the cut files for that extra dimension.

I created the background easily with the one of the three gorgeous heart stamps in the set and added interest with some repeat stamping of one of the sentiment words and also with the little birds. The small tag stamped with another of the hearts and Hugs sentiment finishes everything off.

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy your day.

Retro Knitting....

Hello and happy Monday, hope you had a wonderful weekend,
Just wanted to post this quick card...

I used my Ribbed background stamp for the back panel, trimmed and stamped so the smaller strip is in a darker grey and the rest in the blue, then matched up the stitching.

The DesignA Knit stamp set was used to create this topper, I even stamped those pompoms onto a die cut pompom from the knitables svg file.

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderfully creative day

HAPPY 4TH JULY to everyone in the States!!!

Now, the final stamp in this debut release is this long awaited MayLeeDee image, she is a digi stamp, inspired by my little girl and taken from a piece of artwork I did some time ago... the digital download has bonus images included too.

The Details:
  • MayLeeDee Digi Stamp will be available for purchase on July 5th.
  • It will retail for £4.
  • I designed this stamp with three extra bonus images, there are two faint outlines and one with a knitted dress and patterned boots.

This is one of the faint outline images,  this will make the colouring edge softer, I've kept the eyes in the digi black,

This is the same as above just much fainter, allows the no line colouring technique.

And here she is with a knitted dress, fun to colour and coordinates well with the rest of the release this month.

Next tip,
If you select all four images to print you can usually fit them all on one page ready and waiting to colour.

This is the faint outline image coloured with copic markers,
I coordinated my colours to the patterned papers,
Here's a close up of the face, you can really see how the eyes stand out so much better that I kept them black.
I did just a splattering of grass and I LOVE her shiny boots.
Here I used the sentiments from the Tree Hugs Stamp set.

Do pop over to see what the wonderful Chris has created with the MayLeeDee image, so pleased you get to see the knitted version coloured. WOW!

Well, this is it, the last day of reveals, tomorrow they will be ready to purchase (fingers crossed the website is working for me).

Do pop by tomorrow for the Launch Party Co-Hop, I can't wait, so excited to see what the talented ladies have created with my stamps... Yippee!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by I hope you enjoyed all the samples with my debut release, Hopefully we've left you itching to get crafty see you tomorrow.

Ribbed Background

The Details:
  • Ribbed Background will be available for purchase on July 5th.
  • It will retail for £9.
  • I designed this background stamp with a pattern repeat... all four edges meet to form continuous stamping possibilities, now you should be able to stamp a whole sheet of paper or simply stamp a die cut shape, so many possibilities with a ribbed knit.

Also introducing....
DesignA Knit

The Details:
  • DesignA Knit will be available for purchase on July 5th.
  • It will retail for £14.
  • DesignA Knit contains a total of 35 images, there are 3 different types of knitted stitches, each with outline and fill areas to mix and match and create various knitables. The set also includes a couple of pompoms large and small with a small yarn to thread them onto. The sentiments can be paired up and inked in different colours.
Thought I would share a few tips...
The stamps are easy to curve slightly for a dimensional kitted look
I also curved the 'fill' stitch stamp, laying my acrylic block on top to match with the outline
Stamp the first line a third way up an oval
I aim the the next line to keep with the central stitch there's a slight gap at the edges but you won't notice when you're finished
So when you're finished with stamping the outline, simply stamp the 'fill' stitch, I used a paler colour to give a better contrast.
Next, trim along the bottom edge, notice my happy accident? a darker strip amongst the pale pink(but I can live with that LOL)
I use my fiskars stamp press for this large background stamp, it's easier to line up and hold a decent size stamp
I stamped half of my card front, the edge is pretty enough to leave alone,
I stamped the background again, it nearly met, but a bit more practice should help, the yellow is quite a pale colour to match up

I've added some stamped pompoms to my hat and one of the sentiments.
I haven't fussy cut those pompoms, I have created a knitables svg for all those knitting needs.

I just wanted to show you some knitted creations from some time ago....
I love stamping knitted strips, I used a darker colour for the outline and the 'fill' a lighter colour of the same tone
To get the seem in the socks I simply placed a post it note to stamp one side and then repeat for the top half.
This effect on this card is very simple, I stamped the lines of knit onto kraft card, and blue card, to give a great contrast.

Ok, so more strips, but I love how masculine this looks without the traditional dark browny colours

So, now that you've seen a few of my creations... Do head over to the wonderfully talented Chris the cards on her blog are gorgeous...

Thank you so much for stopping by I hope you enjoyed all the samples with my new stamp set, Hopefully we've left you itching to get crafty and any comments would be lovely.
