Kim

Kim created a birthday card for her dad, who's birthday is the day after hers. She used the DesignA Tweed builder set to create the texture and the Birthday wishes stamp set heat embossed in gold for the sentiment.

Terri
Terri created her card using the Pop dots stamp set stamped onto a distress ink background, she then added a sentiment using the Birthday wishes stamp set and added confetti curls.

Delphine

For her birthday card, Delphine used the Birthday Wishes Clear Stamp Set. She used Distress Ink to create a watercolour background, stamped a sentiment using two words from the Birthday Wishes set. She chose the dotted candles for her card, stamped in blue ink and created the flames with three stamps from the set, stamped in orange and yellow inks. She added some sequins for a nice finishing touch.

Kerrie

Kerrie chose to use the 'MayLeeDee' stamp for this card and to make it a little different she stamped her using pale green ink onto a circle of cardstock and coloured using pencils. She chose a pretty floral paper from her stash for the backdrop of the card and paper-pieced MayLeeDee's dress. The piece of cardstock behind the circle looked a bit too plan when she was putting the card together so she stamped some flowers from the 'Folk Fabrique' set using some co-ordinating colours using chalky ink pads.

Chris made a mixed media male themed bIrthday card using the male face mini stamp set and the mixed media templates men - mini portrait

Introducing Male Face & Mixed Media templates 'Mini's' Day Two!

Welcome to our second day of introductions...

It's also the Queen's 90th Birthday
How lovely, Happy Birthday Ma'am

Now, this will look pretty much like yesterday's post lol...
But with the difference being that the Male Face stamps and Mixed media Templates are a smaller version. So perfect for card fronts, mixed media and journal pages.

I have also made another video yay go me, which I will have ready to share tomorrow!

Male Face Mini

It works the same as yesterday's introduction but is the mini version. This set is approximately the same scale as and should work very well alongside the mini female and doll sets. You can now expand to even more creative possibilities be it male dolls, 'couple' cards and canvas' and all sorts of mixed media

The Details:
  • Male Face Mini Photopolymer Clear set will be available for purchase on Fri 22nd April.
  • The set will retail at £5.00
  • Male Face has a total of 40 stamps, There open open eyes, with coordinating lashes, top and bottom. The iris has been broken up into about six layers to make stamping the perfect eye colour totally personal. There are two pupils' to choose from the large or small. The lips too have been broken into steps, with three styles giving added poseability. There are three nose options with the bridge. A pair of ears and two styles of eyebrows The images are all separate for more stamping variations.

Mixed Media Templates Men Mini

I have the three hairstyles and the all important Head & Torso templates in mini versions, that work with the mini male face stamps. These will only be available as pre-cut due to the stepped technique. The neck and shoulder can be adjusted by thinning or widening, making it shorter or longer. The hairstyles can be flipped over for more options or the hairline moved up or down for a larger forehead.

The Details:
  • Mixed Media Templates Men Mini set will be available for purchase on Fri 22nd April.
  • They will sell individually, as well as a set, they will retail from £1.50 up.
  • There are three hairstyles in this set, (Oops wrong pic) Pompadour not sweep back, Side Fringe, Side swept Bangs. The Head & Torso, each hairstyle coordinates with the Head & Torso template with the mini male face stamp set.

Are you ready for a fun project?...

It was created using the mini male head and torso with Pompadour mixed media templates and the mini male face stamp set.
I simply drew my man first in pencil following the template steps, I've hand drawn a very simple shirt. I stamped his face and ears in black ink before colouring the image using copics.

I've used Pop dots stamp set for the texture, they were stamped using distress inks, it worked so well.  I masked the different areas using mostly the template parts before stamping the polks dots.
Then I went around all the pencil lines with my black posca pen, you can very easily reposition the templates and use them again. I thickened some of the pen lines for shadows and added quite a few to his hair. I then fussy cut him out and mounted on a simple background.

Now you've seen my fun comic style why not pop by the rest of the amazing team's fabulous projects...

Thank you very much for stopping by,
I hope you will return tomorrow to see my step by step video!!!

Enjoy a wonderfully creative day!

Introducing Paperbabe Stamps ~ Male Face and Mixed Media Templates!!!

Welcome to our first day of introductions...

Male Face

I am so excited about this set, it works the same as the female face set but it has so many more possibilities, I have designed the set to work with the Male mixed media templates. Included are a few texture stamps to add additional details to your manly face, be it stubble or a styled beard. This set is approximately the same scale as and should work very well alongside the female sets.

The Details:
  • Male Face Photopolymer Clear set will be available for purchase on Fri 22nd April.
  • The set will retail at £9.00
  • Male Face has a total of 40 stamps, There open open eyes, with coordinating lashes, top and bottom.
Mixed Media Templates Men

I have designed three hairstyles and the all important Head & Torso templates, that work with the male face stamps. These will only be available as pre-cut due to the stepped technique. The neck and shoulder can be adjusted by thinning or widening, making it shorter or longer. The hairstyles can be flipped over for more options or the hairline moved up or down for a larger forehead.

The Details:

  • There are three hairstyles in this set, (Oops wrong pic) Pompadour not sweep back, Side Fringe, Side swept Bangs. The Head & Torso, each hairstyle coordinates with the male face stamp set.
Are you ready for a couple of samples...

This would be a great journal page, I used some gelli prints that I had created a while ago...
I followed the steps to draw the head, torso and hairstyle, I used a black posca pen so I could see the lines on this busy paper.

I stamped his facial features with black ink and coloured the outline image with coloured pencils, there's a mix of blue, black, red and lots of white to burnish and highlight. The pencils helped to keep the gelli print texture.

To make him pop from the busy background I have used a copic marker to give a shadow around him, then finished off with some inking through a stencil and stamped the sentiment.

This really was an experiment, and although I do like the finish and technique, it just needs a bit of work on placement. But I think this would make a great quick arty manly card. I added interest with Spritz & speckles and birthday wishes stamp sets.
It's very close to doodling just lots of cross hatch lines, I've mixed up the colours all over the face. It really was a very quick card to put together, the fine pens are Derwent Graphik, I love their range.

AND for even further inspiration, pop by the following Team blogs and check out their handsome men projects...

Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you will return tomorrow to do it all again but smaller!!!

Enjoy a wonderfully creative day!

April's Sneak Peek Time!!!

Good morning and welcome to April's sneak peeks!!!

We have a new face builder set and three new hairstyle templates being released this month...
You have all loved the Doll Face & Female face stamp sets, but now it's time for them to move over for... the men. Yes it's about time they made an appearance.

I have designed a versatile male face stamp set, with layered eyes and separate lashes just like the female face but slightly smaller to work well with a manly face. There are ears, dense eyebrows and even a stubble stamp. This set will be invaluable for all your portrait stamping, it will be available in two sizes that with work perfectly alongside the existing female head & torso templates. You can now expand to even more creative possibilities be it male dolls, couple cards and canvas' and all sorts of mixed media.

But we couldn't possibly have a new face stamp without some fabulous new hairstyle templates...

We will be releasing three new hairstyles that work with the male physique, the head and torso are slightly different(understandably) yet will still work proportionally alongside the female templates. These templates work slightly differently too but don't worry I have already filmed a little how to so you can feel confident to follow along. Each hairstyle is broken down into steps that will not only compliment the face stamp sets, but it's great for drawing exercises too.

Find out more details in tomorrow's introduction and
there's still plenty of time to enter our current anything goes challenge!
I am loving the entries so far, thank you :)

Enjoy a wonderfully creative day!

Check out the stunning projects from the team...

Terri
Terri has created her piece using the Beach babes pin ups digi stamp which she colored and added a distress ink background before embellishing with stamps from the folk fabrique stamp set.

Kim
Kim created her mixed media piece using the fringe from Wavy Bunches template. The standard size Head & Torso the round head and drew the buns freehand. For a different look Kim used the mini female face stamp set. The fox was also drawn freehand with a cute crown from this template set. The background has a subtle pattern from the fabulous Herringbone stencil.

Delphine

Delphine made a card using Profile Face Mini Mixed Media Templates (Curly Fringe) and stamps from the Profile Face Mini Stamp Set. She watercoloured her card and then used her Polychromo pencils and Zig Markers to add a few details. She added tiny splats in acrylic paint and Posca pen, then stamped the Shine sentiment from the High in the Sky Stamp Set.

Kerrie has created her card using Paper-Piecing using up some pretty off cuts from her stash. She loves the so so so cute 'DesignA Adorimals' set and has created a cute little Bunny using them and the 'Kawaii Face' set.
The sentiment is from the 'DesignA Knit' set and suits the cute little Bunny Image so nicely.

12 Mixed Media Works of 2016 ~ April ~ Gothic Whimsy

Welcome to April's episode of 12 Mixed Media Works of 2016

This month I wanted to try something a little different...
I'm calling it Gothic Whimsy, I'm sure you've seen variations of this style, but it's quite dark for me but not too dark so a little whimsy too...  I wanted to give the feeling of a dark or mysterious fairytale portrait, it seemed a fun idea... something to maybe stimulate your creative mind?

It could be a great gift, or cover for a sketchbook, journal
or the front of a special handmade greeting card.

Supplies:
  • Watercolour paper, I've used hot pressed (nice and smooth)
  • Cardboard(I'm using up some cereal box card)
  • Mixed media templates and profile face stamps(links below)
  • Rose Border Stamp set(again I know)
  • Coloured pencils (I used Stabilo All ~ Brown)
  • Caran D'ache Neocolor II; Ochre.
  • Inks: Versafine; Onyx Black Luxe; Rhubarb Stalk. Distress; Walnut Stain.
  • Dylusions Ink Sprays; Postbox Red; Melted Chocolate; Pomegranate Seed.
  • Posca pens

I have put together a little video showing the steps to create this piece...
I've kept to a 7x7 inch mixed media square like last months but you can create any size piece you want.

It's a simple colour palette and I love how the red makes the girl pop.
I am definitely drawn to pixie, pointy and elven ears... anyone else watching Shannara Chronicles?
So some of the Dylusions ink came off onto her face when I was adding glue to the back, at least it's only a little smudge.
All the hand drawing was a very loose, sketchy style as I wanted an aged look, it also eases off on your inner critic.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #30 ~ Sketch!

A new month and a new challenge and this fortnight is a sketch challenge...

Use the sketch in any creative way that you want, flip it, turn it be inspired by it. The flowers can represent any image, the background any pattern and "paperbabe stamps" any sentiment.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenges are open to everyone...
As usual you are welcome to combine with other challenges.

Please be sure to link your project below for a chance to win Paperbabe Stamps Gift worth up to £20*.

Now onto the team's interpretation...

Terri created her card using the Tweed stencil which was sprayed with water and layered onto a distressed ink background, she added a sentiment from her crafty stash and stamped some flowers using the Folk Fabrique stamp set

Delphine created a card using MayLeeDee Little Red Hood digital image (also available as clear stamp HERE). She flipped the image in Word, coloured it in Copics and die cut it. She then added a chipboard frame covered in gold paint. She used BoBunny DPs to match the colours of her Mayleedee and added a little pearl as a finishing touch.

Kim
Kim needed a new baby card and brought out the DesignA Adorimals and Kawaii Face sets to create this cute little bear. The sentiment was created using the Watercolour Alphabet stamp set.

Before you head to your crafting zone to create some gorgeous projects I thought you would like to know the last challenge winner...
