Zen Flower - Chris

Hi everyone, Chris here with a card and stamping with the Oriental Zen stamp set, I can't seem to put it down! In the central panel I cut a frame using square nestabilities which I first inked with versamark ink and brushed with perfect pearl powders then stamped with the seigaiha stamp in pink ink on top.

Under the frame I stamped the background piece using the negative peony stamp and versamark ink and again brushed with perfect pearl powers. I overstamped with the peony and the pink ink to give a shadowed effect.

Using the outline version of the Peony stamp and the seigaih in the pink ink I stamped around the edge of the card blank, added the die cut pieces (the corners are also stamped with the peony) and the flower inside the frame. I finished everything off with the pearl pen pearls and a little pink ink in the centre of  the flower.

Enjoy your day.

Dramatic Thank You

Hello and welcome, hope you've had a great week so far,
Wasn't Chris's card fantastic on Tuesday? the CAS design is brilliant and that shading really made the boat pop from the background!
Thought I would pop by with this quick make.
I was inspired by this old clothes tag, it was so easy to apply the design for a card.
So, I stamped the solid peony flower from Oriental Zen set and applied black embossing powder. Then without heating it I stamped the outline peony flower, this picks up the powder from the first stamping, when I had all the flowers stamped and ready with embossing powder, I then go in with my heat tool to set the embossing.
I die cut the sentiment in silver mirri board, it was a different font to the tag but I went with what I have, I cut into the 'y' to accommodate the 'k'.

Also I noticed my facebook fans are growing... so as soon as it hits 100 fans I will be organising a Facebook giveaway, so pass it on!!! Thank you.

I haven't been around blog land much the past few weeks, there's lots of stuff going on in the background, bear with me. See you next week.
Have a wonderfully creative Bank Holiday Weekend

...and sail away - Chris

Hi everyone, Chris here with a quick and easy card for you today, ideal for when time is tight and perfect as a male themed card in these colours! I used the little boat from the Oriental Zen set, stamped, cut it out and coloured with red marker.

I added two strips of washi tape to the bottom of the card (4 x 4 inch card) and then glued the boat above the tape. There's a bit of doodling and charcoal shading around the boat, a chit chat sticker and sponging around the edges with black soot ink to finish it off.

Hope you have a great week!

Oriental Sandal Charms

Hello and welcome, hope you've had a great week so far,
Wasn't Chris's tag gorgeous? love her bright colours and the fantabulous details!

So here's the promised tutorial I mentioned the other day,
I hope you have a go!
I'm not sure you can download this directly from the blog but you can try the facebook page to save a copy. Then simply print to create your sandal template! The box shape is very simple, you can do that with out the template just cut the rectangle and round the corners!
So trace the sandal images onto frosted shrink plastic, don't forget to flip the template over to get a matching pair that mirrors, then cut out with your scissors.
Use your punch to makes the holes, although I used the 3/16 size I think the smaller one would work just as well.
You may need to rub out some of those pencil marks ready for the next step.
I treated myself to those gorgeous new mementoLUXE inks, wow they are delicious, the ink is to juicy, quite paint like and they emboss brilliantly, and don't stain the stamp. Love them, I have been looking for an ink like this for ever...
So, I stamped the peony flower from Oriental Zen set first, trying to mirror the design to create a matching pair of sandals, then stamped the coordintaing leaves in a green.
Next is the fun heating bit, do bear with it, it's meant to curl up and get all out of shape...
see, keep going and it will complete it's shrinking to become all uniform again.
Take an acrylic block or something to press on the warm plastic to keep it flat while it cools.
So this it the template beside the shrunk pieces, quite a difference in size!
There was no need to wait for this ink to dry either,
After rummaging for what seemed like hours for some craft wire or seed beads (think Maoleidigh may have some idea where they are, lol) I ended up using a flower bead.
I trimmed a little craft wire and folded the two ends to the centre into the hole of the bead. So it looks a bit like this.
Hold the flower bead in position and curve the wire to go through the hole, pinch the ends to stay in place.
Add a little glue to secure the ends.
Add adhesive under the flower bead and hold for a few seconds and leave the sandal to dry.
And voilĂ , I really should make something with these, they're very easy to add to your project with a little adhesive, foam pads or before the stamping step you can punch an extra hole to the heel area and add a jump ring when they're finished.

Thanks for stopping by today, I would love to see your sandal charms!
Have a wonderfully creative weekend!

Lotus Peony Tag - Chris

Hi everyone, Chris here with an arched shape tag that I've made with the gorgeous Lotus Peony stamp from the Oriental Zen stamp set.

I've gone bright and colourful with Dylusions Inks after stamping with embossing ink and heat embossing. The embossing was removed afterwards leaving the white paper underneath. I've added stickles to the petals which gives a lovely jewel encrusted look and I also stamped and cut out a peony which I coloured with the pink dylusions and then covered with rock candy distress paint. I finished off with a couple of die cut butterflies, pearl pen pearls, ribbon, lace and a chit chat sticker. Hope you have a creative day!

Last day of previews...

It's the last day of previews, showcasing the August release that will be available to buy tomorrow. It's been wonderful the feedback has been incredible, thank you... lets tickle your creative juices with a few more cards...

The Oriental Zen set is great for men cards too...
I masked the edges of the card front with masking tape to create a border. I then stamped the seigaiha across the centre and positioned my mask from frisket film over so I could apply some distress inks to give a old looking sky.
I stamped the Seigaiha in darker ink and added the waves, to get the three in a row I simply masked the central wave to then stamp more either side. I then cut this layer out. On more card I stamped the seigaiha again and trimmed. I stamped the little origami boat and cut out... then used dimensional adhesive to layer the elements up to create a sea scene.

My next card incorporates Oriental Zen and MayLeeDee Kimono, the set lends itself so well to feminine cards too...

The background I created similar to the steps on Tuesday, I used the solid of the Peony image, with leaves to stamp on my card first, I then masked them to go over with the seigaiha motif.
I stamped MLD Kimono in grey ink and coloured her in copics, I went for a smooth finish and paler colours.
Then I added a diecut frame around the image using black cardstock, I stamped an extra flower and fussy cut for an embellishment.
And here's the copics I used...

It's about time to hand you over to...
my crafty friend Chris, as she wow's you with her stunning card,
so please pop over to her blog...

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you feel inspired.

 MayLeeDee Kimono

This is MayLeeDee wearing a kimono, I thought it would coordinate well with the Oriental Zen set also available this release. There are three versions...
so I'm sure one would suit you...
This is the digital version, it is just the outline, the kimono and fan are without pattern, so you can do your own creations. It also includes the faint outline version ready for printing.

The Details:
  • MLD Kimono Digi will be available for purchase on August 9th.
  • It will retail for £2.50
  • MLD Kimono Digi contains a total of 3 images, an outline and two faint outline for the no line colouring technique.

Next are the clear stamps...
This clear stamp includes a sentiment.
And this version has the fan pattern as a separate stamp, so you can ink it in any colour.

The Details:
  • MLD Kimono clear stamps will be available for purchase on August 9th.
  • It will retail for £4.50.
  • MLD Kimono Clear stamps have two images, either the sentiment version or fan pattern version they are sold separately. They are approximately 5" x 2 1/4" (12.5cm x 6cm) so plenty big to colour, or trim for a smaller card topper.
Now onto a sample...

I haven't any steps today, I stamped the image in momento black ink
It's hard to see, that I stamped the fan pattern in white pigment ink and let it dry, before I went over in copics, it has a subtle resist effect.
The sentiment I have embossed in pink embossing powder onto vellum, simply adhered to the back of the coloured image.
The background is various copics just blended gradually...
Here's the selection of colours I used

It's time to head over to...
my crafty friend Chris, as she wow's you with her wonderful card,
so please head over to her blog...

Also I have a few guests with me today showcasing MLD Kimono stamps too...
Please head over to

Thank you so much for stopping by I hope you enjoyed all the samples with the MayLeeDee Kimono stamps. Hopefully you will pop back tomorrow for more samples.

Oriental Zen

I got inspiration for this set from gorgeous kimono silk fabrics and oriental images... this set Oriental Zen includes different elements from Seigaiha meaning wave of the blue sea a motif consisting of concentric circles which you can build to create a background and a wave that fits into the seigaiha. A small lotus peony, an origami boat, and a koi fish. This is a fun set to help you achieve lots of different looks!

The Details:
  • Oriental Zen will be available for purchase on August 9th.
  • It will retail for £9.
  • Oriental Zen contains a total of 13 images, there are 3 different sizes of the Seigaiha, an outline and solid stamps for the lotus Peony. Two sizes of waves, drops and splashes. A fish and a small origami boat.

My sample shows how well these images go together to make your very own kimono inspired fabric pattern...

I started by stamping my flower outlines in clear embossing ink and adding gold embossing powder. Before heating I stamped the fish in ink and applied clear embossing powder... then I heated the piece to set the powder.

I created a set of masks using fisket film, I keep mine on the acetate sheet that covers my stamps.

After heat embossing I positioned my mask to then stamp the next flower and heated to set. Remember to remove the mask before heating.

The Seigaiha motif is easy to line up to create a pattern, there's other sizes to, so you can create different looks. I embossed this in gold powder as before.

Next I coloured flowers in using distress markers and a waterbrush, the embossing keeps the colour in nicely.

the background is a wash of distress ink, I added a few water drops with gold ink.

The solid for the lotus peony it great stamped on it's own too, the leaves fit in, you can use the outline to guide you.
The picture quality isn't great I snapped a quick pic before it headed off!

Now that you've seen a couple of my creations, it's time to head over to...
the wonderfully talented crafty friend Chris is showcasing her wonderful bag
so please head over to her blog...

Also I have a couple of guests with me this month too...
